Welcome to the Athletes Hub
Athletes often face unique challenges when it comes to balancing their physical performance, mental health, and body image. The pressure to maintain peak fitness and excel in competition can sometimes lead to struggles with eating disorders and related mental health concerns. My focus is on providing evidence-based treatment to help athletes overcome these challenges, restore their health, and achieve their full potential.
Athletes often face unique health challenges that can impact both their physical performance and overall well-being. Here are three top challenges commonly encountered:

1
Energy Deficiency and RED-S
Many athletes struggle with maintaining a balance between energy intake and energy expenditure. Inadequate nutrition or excessive training can lead to RED-S, which negatively affects bone health, menstrual function, immune response, and cardiovascular health. This condition can also lead to fatigue, decreased performance, and increased risk of injury.
2
Menstrual Irregularities and Hormonal Imbalance
Athletes often experience menstrual disruptions, such as amenorrhea (absence of periods) or irregular cycles, which can be caused by factors like low body fat, high stress levels, or intense physical training. These issues can have long-term consequences, such as reduced bone density (increasing the risk of osteoporosis) and reproductive health concerns.
3
Body Image Pressures and Eating Disorders
Athletes can face immense pressure to conform to certain body standards or sport specific weight classes. This pressure may contribute to disordered eating, or full-blown eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia. These conditions can have severe physical and mental health impacts, hindering both athletic performance and personal well-being.
